1. What is fraction?

It is the ratio of given quantity to the total quantity or ratio of numerator to the denominator

Category 1:

1.    Proper fraction numerator < denominator Example:

Category 2:

1.    Like fraction: Denominator’s are same          Example:

2.    Unlike fraction: Denominator’s are not same          Example:

  

3.    Equivalent fractions:  taken part is same

 

 

3. How to convert fractions from one type to another?

1.    Improper to mixed:

          

 

 

2.    Mixed to improper:

 

 

3.    Unlike to like:

1.    Find the L.C.M of the denominators of the given fractions

2.    Then convert each fraction to its equivalent fraction with denominator equal to the LCM obtained in Step 1.

4. FRACTION OPERATIONS:

Reduce to the lowest terms:

1.    Find the H.C.F of numerator and denominator

2.    Divide the numerator and denominator with the H.C.F
