Chapter1: Introduction and File/Home menu options

MS-Word window



Moving around MS-Word window

·       Use arrow keys

·       Use mouse dragging options

·       Use scroll bars (horizontal/vertical)

·       Use goto options – Refer it in Home menu->Editing->Goto options

Selecting properties in MS-word

·       To select shapes/picture – Click on it

·       To select particular word – Double click on it (or) Use mouse dragging (or) Shift+arrow keys

·       To select entire paragraph – Triple click on it (or) Use mouse dragging (or) Shift+arrow keys

·       To select all content – Ctrl +A

·       Select options in home menu – Refer it in Home menu->Editing->Select options

MS-Word Menus

File menu

New

Open new file(ctrl+n)

 

Open

Open existing file(ctrl+o)

·       Select file path

·       Select file name

·       Click open

 

Save

Save our file(ctrl+s)

·       Select file path

·       Give file name

·       Select document type

·       Click save

 

Save as

                                                 

·       Take duplicate copy of our file

·       Save in other format like .pdf

File->save as->select other formats->select file path->save 


Print

To print our word file(ctrl+p)

·       Select printer

·       Select no of pages, no of copies

·       Click print

 

Close

Close our word file(ctrl+x)

 

Send

To send to an email

·       First create mail profile in control panel then use this options

 

Home menu

Font options

1.    Font style – To change the font style  

2.    Font size – To increase or decrease the font size

3.    Grow /shrink font -

Grow(to increase font size) – ctrl+shift+> or ctrl+]

Shrink(decrease font size) – ctrl+shift+< or ctrl+[

4.    Bold /italic/Underline/Strike through/Super script/Sub script

                         

Bold (change selected text in bold style) – ctrl+B

Italic (change selected text in italic style) – ctrl+i

Underline (underlines the selected text) – ctrl+U

                                  For Double underline – ctrl+shift+D 

Super script (Create the small letters above the text baseline) – ctrl+shift+=

Sub script (Create the small letters below the text baseline) – ctrl+=

Strike through – strikes the selected text 

5.    Change case – changes the case of the selected text                                    

                                    
                                    Apply/remove all caps – ctrl + shift + A

6.    Change Text highlight color/Change Text color                         

                     

7.    Clear formatting

                   

        8. To copy formatting – ctrl + shift + c

                            To paste formatting – ctrl + shift + v 

Paragraph options

1.    Bulleted list/Numbered list/Multilevel list – give bullets/numbered/multilevel order for  our selected list

                             

                                    Apply bullets – ctrl + shift + L 

2.    Left alignment/Right alignment/Center alignment/Justify alignment/Line spacing

                          

For left alignment – ctrl+L

For right alignment – ctrl+R

For center alignment – ctrl+E

For justify alignment – ctrl+J

Line spacing – changes the spacing between lines of selected text 

                                   Ctrl+1 – for single line spacing

         Ctrl+2 – for double line spacing

                              Ctrl+3 – for 1.5 line spacing 

3.    Increase indent/Decrease Indent/ Sort by text, number or date

                          

Increase indent(ctrl+M) – Increase the indent level of the paragraph

Decrease indent(ctrl+shift+M) – Decrease the indent level of the paragraph 

4.    Text background color

                           

Clipboard options

1.    Cut/Copy:

Then for cut the selected properties (ctrl+x)

Then for copy the selected properties (ctrl+c)

                               

2.    Paste – to paste the cut/copied properties (ctrl+v)

Option 1(Normal paste):

Option 3(Paste as hyperlink): To create the hyper link between the documents

                                 

3.    Format painter – To copy the formatting from one place to another place

                    

Styles options

1.    Select styles as normal, title, sub title, heading 1, heading 2, heading 3 etc.,

               

2.    Change styles

               

Editing options

1.   Find(ctrl+f) / Replace(ctrl+h) / Goto(ctrl+g)
